Heart-Shaped Nutella Cookies Recipe for Valentine’s Day

I was cleaning kitchen drawers recently and discovered a stack of cookie cutters, including a set of heart-shaped cutters I’d bought a few years ago and never used. I placed them on the microwave so I wouldn’t forget to try them for Valentine’s Day. Inspiration struck while driving my daughter to work—my best ideas always come at odd times.

I decided to make heart-shaped crescent rolls filled with Nutella. My youngest is obsessed with Nutella, and we always have jars in the pantry, so this felt like the perfect, simple treat.

These Nutella Hearts are easy to make—kids can help with most of the steps. I like using refrigerated crescent roll dough because it saves time and yields reliable results every time.

Unroll the crescent dough and press the seams together with clean fingers to form one large sheet—this gives you a smooth surface to cut heart shapes with your cookie cutter.

I used about ½ teaspoon of Nutella in the center of each heart so they’d seal easily and not burst open during baking. Still, a little extra chocolate spilling out never seems like a problem.

After baking they held their heart shape and were golden and puffy, with melted Nutella inside. I finished them with a drizzle of melted milk chocolate and a drizzle of white chocolate chips for contrast—think of them as mini chocolate croissants shaped for Valentine’s Day.
