Unbelievably delicious and easy to make, these orange segments are dipped in dairy-free or dark chocolate and finished with a sprinkle of sea salt for a fresh yet indulgent bite. Ideal for parties and seasonal celebrations.

This recipe was created by my cousin Aoife during a trip to Connemara in Ireland earlier this year, with our other cousin Michelle joining in. Between the three of us β photographer, stylist and food blogger β it made perfect sense to stage our own little shoot.
We put together this simple, crowd-pleasing recipe using some lovely local ingredients and props. Itβs a family effort β enjoy!
Chocolate Dipped Orange Slices with Sea Salt
Dipping orange segments in chocolate is a classic idea, but the addition of sea salt transforms it. The bright sweetness of the orange, the deep bitterness of dark chocolate and the sharp finish of flaky sea salt create a perfectly balanced bite.
These treats are ridiculously simple to make and can be made with dairy-free chocolate for a vegan option. They work beautifully as a light dessert, a garnish for holiday platters, or a small, satisfying snack any time of year.
Make them for Christmas or New Year gatherings, take them to a party, or prepare a batch to keep in the fridge for a quick, elegant treat.

These chocolate-covered orange slices topped with sea salt are a simple, elegant treat thatβs perfect for parties and small celebrations.
Ingredients
- 1 x 200 g / 7 oz bar of dark chocolate (or dairy-free chocolate)
- A pinch of sea salt (preferably flaky)
- Approximately 5 small oranges or clementines
Instructions
- Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Peel the oranges and remove any excess pith so the segments sit cleanly.
- Melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over gently simmering water, or melt it carefully in short bursts in the microwave, stirring between intervals until smooth.
- Holding each orange segment by the peel edge, dip it into the chocolate so roughly half the segment is coated. Allow excess chocolate to drip off and place each piece on the lined tray.
- Sprinkle a small pinch of sea salt over the chocolate before it sets. Chill in the fridge for at least 15 minutes until the chocolate is firm.
