Ingredients
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 yellow pepper, diced
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- ½ teaspoon fresh ground pepper
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 large burrito-sized tortillas
- 1 cup iceberg lettuce, chopped
- ¼ cup ketchup or barbecue sauce
- 1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded (or cheddar, or a mixture)
How to make cheeseburger wraps

- Preheat a griddle to medium or medium-low. In one section, heat 1 tablespoon oil and add the diced onion and yellow pepper. Season with half the garlic salt and half the fresh ground pepper. After 5 minutes, add 1 tablespoon butter and continue to sauté for 10–15 minutes, flipping occasionally, until the onions and peppers are soft and caramelized.
- In another section of the griddle, warm a little oil and butter over medium heat. Add the ground beef and break it up with a spatula. Season with the remaining garlic salt and pepper. Brown the beef for about 10 minutes, turning regularly, until no pink remains. Transfer cooked beef to a bowl.
- Lay out the burrito-sized tortillas. Down the center of each, place a line of ground beef, then the sautéed onions and peppers, chopped iceberg lettuce, and a drizzle of ketchup or barbecue sauce. Top with about 1/4 cup shredded cheese per wrap. Fold the sides and roll each tortilla like a burrito; secure with toothpicks if needed.
- Return the griddle section used for the onions and peppers to medium heat and, if necessary, add a little more butter. Grill the wrapped burritos on both sides until the tortillas are golden and the cheese has melted. Remove toothpicks before serving.
- Slice each wrap in half and enjoy warm.

Video
Equipment
- Toothpicks
- Griddle (any brand)
- Spatula
Ingredients
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 yellow pepper, diced
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- ½ teaspoon fresh ground pepper
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 large burrito-sized tortillas
- 1 cup iceberg lettuce, chopped
- ¼ cup ketchup or barbecue sauce
- 1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded (or cheddar, or a mixture)
Instructions
- Preheat a griddle to medium or medium-low. In one area, heat oil and add diced onion and yellow pepper with half the garlic salt and pepper. After 5 minutes, add butter and sauté 10–15 minutes until softened and slightly caramelized.
- In another area, heat oil and butter over medium. Add ground beef, break it up, and season with the remaining garlic salt and pepper. Cook about 10 minutes until no pink remains. Transfer beef to a bowl.
- Assemble: place beef, sautéed onions and peppers, chopped lettuce, and ketchup or BBQ sauce down the center of each tortilla. Sprinkle with shredded cheese, then wrap like a burrito and secure if needed.
- Grill the wraps on the griddle until the tortillas are golden and the cheese is melted, flipping to brown both sides. Remove any toothpicks before serving.
- Slice in half and serve warm.
Notes
For best results, cook the onions and peppers until they develop color and sweetness. Swap cheeses to taste; Gruyere adds a creamy, slightly nutty flavor.
