Welcome to Apple Week, hosted by Cooking with Carlee. During this event a group of bloggers share more than 100 apple-filled recipes featuring apples in every form—fresh, sauced, baked, and pressed into cider. As part of the celebration I’m sharing a simple, flavorful sangria that highlights apple cider and warm cinnamon notes. Scroll down to see the recipe and the prize packs offered as part of Apple Week.

Cinnamon Apple Cider Sangria — Overview
This sangria starts with a bottle of white wine—pinot grigio is a great option because many offer apple and pear notes that complement the cider. You don’t need an expensive bottle; choose one you’d enjoy by itself. The alcohol blend here includes apple brandy (Calvados) and cinnamon-flavored whiskey for a warm spice finish. If you don’t have cinnamon whiskey, use regular whiskey or bourbon and sweeten lightly with cinnamon simple syrup to taste.

Serving Suggestions and Variations
This sangria is flexible. Swap the pinot grigio for another crisp white like sauvignon blanc, or use a semi-dry riesling for a touch more fruitiness. If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, substitute sparkling apple cider for the wine and use cinnamon syrup in place of whiskey and brandy. To make the drink ahead, mix everything and refrigerate up to 24 hours—apples will infuse the liquid and the cinnamon will deepen the flavor.
