How to Make Easy Asian Steak Bites

Prep the steak: Trim excess fat and slice the steak against the grain into strips just under 1 inch wide. Turn the strips and cut into bite-sized pieces.

Marinate: In a large bowl whisk together soy sauce, honey, sriracha, 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil, and minced garlic. Add the steak bites, toss to coat, cover, and marinate for at least 20 minutes or up to 4 hours.

Make the dipping sauce: While the steak marinates, combine 1/2 cup mayo, juice and zest from the limes (about 3–4 tablespoons juice and 1/2 teaspoon zest), 3 teaspoons sriracha, and 1 teaspoon granulated sugar. Add salt and pepper to taste and adjust lime or sriracha as desired.

Cook the steak: Turn on your ventilation fan. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high to high heat and add 1 tablespoon sesame oil. Add a single layer of steak pieces so they sizzle immediately. Let them sear without stirring for 30–45 seconds, flip and sear the other side for another 30–45 seconds. Aim for a browned exterior while keeping the inside tender—avoid overcooking. Cook in batches if needed, adding the remaining sesame oil between batches. Transfer cooked bites to a plate and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds if desired.

Serve: Plate the steak bites and serve with the sriracha-lime dipping sauce on the side.

Quick Tip

When cooking at high temperatures, have the stove’s exhaust fan on to avoid smoke and prevent the alarm from going off.
