Equipment needed for these Healthy Strawberry Banana Popsicles:

  • Blender – To get a smooth puree for the molds, use a blender or food processor; a blender works well for a silky texture.
  • Ice pop molds – Silicone or plastic molds work. Silicone molds release popsicles more easily without running hot water under the mold.
  • Measuring cups – For measuring strawberries and water before blending.
  • Measuring spoons – For measuring honey and maple syrup, or add sweeteners to taste.

Can I make these popsicles for a baby?

Do not give honey or maple syrup to infants under one year old. For babies under one (if they are already handling table foods), omit added sweeteners and rely on ripe banana for natural sweetness, or increase the banana proportion. Warning: frozen popsicles can break into chunks; if a baby cannot chew solids yet, keep the strawberry-banana mixture as a chilled puree in the refrigerator instead of freezing.

These popsicles are a treat for adults too—especially when made with fresh strawberries from the garden.

Step 1 continued: Add water and sweeteners, then blend until smooth and free of chunks. Overripe bananas work well here—they naturally sweeten the mixture and are a great way to use up older bananas.

Step 2: Pour the blended strawberry-banana mixture into popsicle molds (two trays with eight molds total), then place the popsicle sticks on top. Silicone molds are convenient because the popsicles release easily without hot water.

Step 3: Freeze the popsicles overnight. To release them, briefly run warm water over the bottom of the mold and enjoy. These make a healthy, homemade snack you can feel good about serving to your children.
